You can\u2019t blame them \u2013 it&#8217;s the yearly chance to go splurge on free candy. Plus who wouldn&#8217;t be counting down the days to dressing up as a superhero, princess, or firefighter?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">To make sure your family has the best Halloween this year, here are 10 safety tips:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #e36c09;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">1.<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> Never trick-or-treat alone.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"> Always make sure you are either with your kids or they are in a group of friends you trust.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">2.<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Plan your route beforehand.<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> If you aren\u2019t accompanying your kids, plan out where they\u2019re going to go with their friends. Tell them what neighborhoods are good, which they aren\u2019t allowed to go to, and what\u2019s too far from home.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #e36c09;\">3.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #e36c09;\">Have a flashlight.<\/span><\/strong> You want<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> to be able to see that candy right? It\u2019ll also make your trick-or-treaters more aware to other children and drivers on the roads.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">4.<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong> Wear comfy shoes.<\/strong> Sure, Spider-Man might not rock sneakers with his outfit but you\u2019re going to want your children to be comfortable for the long walk that night. If your child insists on those sparkly princess shoes, consider bringing some more practical back-up shoes for when reality (or blisters) set in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"img2\" style=\"font-size: 14.6667px; float: left; margin-top: 15px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-right: 15px;\" title=\"Halloween Costume\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allins.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Halloween-costume-1.jpg\" alt=\"Halloween Costume\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #e36c09;\"><strong>5. Never accept rides from strangers or go inside strangers&#8217; houses.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">6.<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong> Only visit well-lit houses.<\/strong> If a house doesn\u2019t have its porch light on or any other indicators that they\u2019re open for candy, it\u2019s best to skip that house and move on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #e36c09;\"><strong>7. Don\u2019t eat any candy that isn\u2019t properly wrapped.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"> A tummy ache will crush your child\u2019s candy-eating dreams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">8.<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong> Don\u2019t run!<\/strong> Those costumes aren\u2019t built for sprinters, so tell your kids to not be in such a hurry and avoid tripping over theirs or others&#8217; costumes. Be especially aware of this when capes or long robes are involved!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #e36c09;\"><strong>9. Stay on sidewalks as much as possible.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"> Don\u2019t wander into the street and stick as close to houses as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">10.<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong> Make sure your child can properly see and move comfortably.<\/strong> It\u2019s fun to put on the cape and cowl of your favorite hero, but make sure they can see and enjoy the night properly and avoid getting hurt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">What rules do you have for keeping your Halloween safe?
